Brothers,
At our State Board Meeting in Pittsburgh this past Saturday, National Secretary Tom McNabb has told us that he does not have an EIN number for every Pennsylvania division and county board that he is required by the IRS to have on file. I have compiled a list of the numbers for our divisions that you have dutifully entered on your form 11s for the last two years. the divisions with missing EIN numbers are:
We need a number for all county boards except Philadelphia, I have it already.
Everyone must have this number whether you have or do not have a checking or savings account.
The National Board could lose its tax exempt status if we do not comply.

Brothers,
The 23rd Annual Irish Pub Tour De Shore will be held on Sunday, July 18th. If you are not sure what this is, here it is in a nutshell.
The Tour De Shore is a 65 mile bike ride from the Irish Pub in Philly to the Irish Pub in Atlantic City. The purpose is to raise money for local charities. This year’s charities will be:
Last year, Officer Jack Duffy Division 6 hastily assembled a group of 5 riders at the last minute and raised $1,300 for the designated charities. As Montgomery County Organizer, I am seeking to make this a county wide effort with a goal of assembling a team of at least 40 riders who would raise $500 each or $20,000 for the above charities. Please note that riders representing your Division and the County need not be members of the AOH. Feel free to invite family, friends and coworkers.
Last year was a great time and 4 of our 5 bikers were not dedicated cyclists so this ride can be done if you are in any kind of shape or are competitive by nature. Note that there are numerous rest stops along the way for you to regroup.
There is no cost to participate in this event other than raising a minimum of $150 which is easy. This functions very similar to a walkathon where you solicit sponsors for your ride. The event website makes it very easy for your sponsor to donate in your name via credit card. When you visit the website you will see our team designated as Ancient Order of Hibernians Montco as all 6 of our Divisions will be riding as a single team. When you register, show your name with a hyphen and your Division number like “Pete Hand – 1”.
As we all know, the Irish and Law Enforcement go together like hand and glove so our support of this event and the designated charities makes sense. Beyond this, the event is simply a great time and an opportunity for us to work together as a group to make a difference.
There are many other details that can be learned by reviewing the website which I will give you shortly. That said, note that we will be getting racing shirts for our county team, that you can get a ride back on a charter bus with your bike or stay overnight at a discounted hotel rate. Suffice to say, this could be a tremendous event for the county and an opportunity to really get our name on the map.
The link to the website is http://www.irishpubphilly.com
At the very top right corner click on “Irish Pub Children’s Foundation and then click on “Irish Pub Tour De Shore” at the lower half of the page. This link will give you more details on the event and an opportunity to register. Remember that our team in Ancient Order of Hibernians MONTCO
Shortly, I will provide additional information on the specifics of our plan to participate in this event.
Thank you in advance for your support.

Hibernian Brothers and Sisters,
The AOH Allegheny County Board is hosting a “Let’s Dance!” fundraiser on Saturday evening, June 26, 2010, at the Castle Shannon Fire Hall. It’s an “Oldies Night” with headliner “The Mansfield 5“, with an opening by Don Obusek’s tribute to “The Magic of Elvis“!
This is a fundraiser that is meant to recapture the great fun we had when Pittsburgh hosted the AOH/LAOH State Convention last summer. We anticipate that it will sell out, and sell out quickly! Ticket information and everything you need to know is in this AOH Let’s Dance Flyer!
Please circulate the attached flyer through as many email groups as you have! It should be a great night of fun and dancing!!
In our motto,
Jim Green, AOH Allegheny County Vice President
Note to ALL AOH Pittsburgh Brothers from Ed Blank:
I have not seen the movie mentioned here, but it was Oscar-nominated a couple of months ago as Best Animated Feature and is primarily Irish in origin. It was made in County Kilkenny.
“The Secret of Kells” will run May 21 through June 3 at Regent Square Theater, where many of us saw “The Wind That Shakes the Barley” about three years ago.
Fridays at 8:00
Saturdays at 2:00, 4:00. 6:00 & 8:00
Sundays at 2:00, 4:00 & 6:00
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:00
A publicity blurb on “The Secret of Kells”:
Audiences everywhere are applauding this Oscar-nominated animation from the producers of Triplets of Belleville and Kirikou and the Sorceress. Magic, fantasy and Celtic mythology come together in a riot of color and dazzling details in a sweeping story about the power of imagination and faith to carry humanity through dark times. Young Brendan lives in a remote medieval outpost under siege from barbarian raids. One day a celebrated master illuminator arrives from foreign lands carrying an ancient but unfinished book, brimming with secret wisdom and powers. To help complete the book, Brendan must embark on a dangerous quest through an enchanted forest. (Tomm Moore; Ireland/France/Belgium; 2009; 78 min)
Barry Foltz, AOH District III, Dan Lyons President of Cumberland County, and Bill Irwin Cumberland County II (not pictured), were on hand Saturday May 8 on the steps of the Capitol in Harrisburg to witness a Covenant signing.
Dan Lyons signed WHP 580′s (radio) Community Covenant with the Armed Forces to show support for the Military and their Families, on behalf of faith based organizations. Lyon’s signing acknowledges that Service members and their Families strength come from their faith.
